Professor Shaham is the director of the CT and Cardiothoracic Imaging division in the Department of Medical Imaging at Hadassah University Medical Centre [Hadassah Ein Kerem]. She is also the chair of the Clinical Teaching Committee at the Hebrew University Hadassah School of Medicine, and the deputy editor of the Journal of Thoracic Imaging.
In 1998, Professor Shaham worked with the International Early Lung Cancer Screening Program (I-ELCAP) to establish the first lung cancer screening programme in Israel at the Hadassah University Medical Centre. She has studied the cost effectiveness of low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) screening in Israel and has participated in in multiple I-ELCAP studies investigating many aspects of lung cancer screening.
In 2020, the Israeli Ministry of Health appointed Professor Shaham as a member of the steering committee to establish a national pilot programme for the implementation of lung cancer screening in Israel.
