Dr Gilligan is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist at Cambridge University Hospitals & Royal Papworth Hospitals in Cambridge, and an Affiliated Assistant Professor at the University of Cambridge. He has been a member of the British Thoracic Oncology Group Steering Committee since May 2017, and chairs its Thymic Specialist Interest Group. He is Chair of the UK Lung Cancer Coalition, sits on the Lung Cancer Clinical Expert Group, is a Senior Medical Editor for Macmillan Cancer Information, and advises other organisations on patient information.
Dr Gilligan’s main clinical interest is thoracic oncology: lung cancer, mesothelioma and thymic tumours. He is a participant in clinical trials, with many published in peer-reviewed journals. He has a interest in the patient pathway as well as patient information and engagement.
