Dr Kerpel-Fronius is a board-certified radiologist and Head of Diagnostics at the National Korányi Institute for Pulmonology in Budapest.
Her main area of interest is thoracic radiology, and her work focuses on pulmonary malignancies and other aspects, including interstitial lung diseases. She has been radiological lead of the Hungarian lung cancer screening projects since their start in 2013. (HUNCHEST I-III)
Dr Kerpel-Fronius serves on numerous committees, both in Hungary and internationally, including the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC) and the European Society of Thoracic Imaging (ESTI). She is president-elect of the Hungarian Society of Radiologists, and founded the organisation’s Thoracic Imaging Section; she is also on the board of the Hungarian Society of Pulmonologists. In 2025, Dr Kerpel-Fronius was appointed as the Scientific Coordinator of the Strengthening the screening of Lung Cancer in Europe (SOLACE) project in 2025.
