Professor Dragana Jovanovic is a subspecialist in pulmonology and oncology with extensive expertise in thoracic oncology and palliative medicine. A past Head of Thoracic Oncology at the Clinical Center of Serbia in Belgrade, she now works as a Senior Consultant at Akta Medica and Melliora Clinic. She is also the founding President of the Educational Center for Respiratory and Palliative Medicine.

Professor Jovanovic has played a leading role in advancing lung cancer care in Serbia. As Director of the Institute of Lung Diseases and Tuberculosis (2001–2008), she established the country’s first Centre for Interventional Pulmonology and founded the School of Bronchology. She also modernised the organisation of the Lung Cancer Day Hospital by expanding services to include palliative care, cancer pain management and a national patient registry, and led the establishment of the Clinical Center of Serbia’s Multidisciplinary Oncology Center in 2004.

Her contributions to education include founding the specialisation in palliative medicine at the University of Belgrade School of Medicine (2014), developing the training curriculum, and introducing palliative care teaching for both medical and nursing students.

An active member of the international thoracic oncology community, she has served as a scientific co-chair, lecturer and senior faculty member for numerous national and international congresses, including ERS and ESO–ESMO initiatives since 2004.

Professor Jovanovic has authored over 360 publications and is chief editor of nine books.
