Professor Chorostowska-Wynimko is President-Elect of the European Respiratory Society. She is a professor of medicine and a consultant in respiratory medicine, and head of the department of genetics and clinical immunology at the National Institute of Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases in Poland.

She has published more than 286 articles in peer-reviewed journals; she is also a principal investigator and coordinator on many clinical studies and scientific programmes. She is the lead for the lung cancer domain in Shaping the EU Networks of Expertise on cancer. She is the site lead in the CraNE2 Network of Comprehensive Cancer Centres and EUCanScreen. Professor Chorostowska-Wynimko is a member of the integration data access governance council of DIGItal Infrastructure for ONcology in Europe. She is also a member of the medical steering committee of the European Reference Network-LUNG and member of the scientific committee of the European AATD Research Collaboration.

Her clinical interests lie mostly in lung cancer, COPD and alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency.
