Associate Professor Nicole Rankin PhD is an implementation scientist and Head of the Evaluation and Implementation Science Unit in the Melbourne School of Population and Global Health at The University of Melbourne.

She has 25 years’ experience working in cancer research and policy. Her research interests span lung cancer screening and early detection as well as capacity building in implementation science. She was the 2020 Leslie (Les) J. Fleming Churchill Fellow. She is a member of the Expert Advisory Committee for the Australian National Lung Cancer Screening Program.

Professor Rankin led the team that developed and wrote the Australian National Lung Cancer Screening Program guidelines, which were released in late April 2025. She leads the ‘Ready to Screen’ implementation trial to test lung cancer screening invitation strategies with 38 general practices across Victoria and New South Wales, Australia.
