Dr Kim’s clinical and research interests are focused on risk reduction, screening, early detection, and the prompt diagnosis and staging of lung cancer. He is involved in several clinical trials in lung cancer screening, nodule management and interventional pulmonology, and is also the principal investigator of several government-funded projects in South Korea.

He is a co-founding member of the Asia Pacific Coalition Against Lung Cancer and serves as a member of the Global Multidisciplinary Practice Standards Committee of the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer. Dr Kim is also a planning committee member of the American Thoracic Society and the Thoracic Oncology Assembly, and a member of the Interventional Pulmonology Outcomes Group.
