In a year that has seen lung cancer explicitly referenced in a World Health Assembly (WHA) resolution for the first time, the Lung Cancer Policy Network and the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) are hosting a pivotal session during London Global Cancer Week.
The webinar – ‘Turning policy into progress: how the WHO integrated lung health resolution can drive local action on lung cancer’ – will take place on 27 November and will explore how to leverage recent policy milestones to drive meaningful change.
The resolution is a policy milestone that recognises lung cancer within a framework of respiratory disease prevention and care. It follows years of sustained advocacy and coincides with the announcement of the IASLC-Lancet Commission on Lung Cancer and the development of an International Agency for Research on Cancer handbook on lung cancer screening – both of which signal growing momentum for global action.
The session will feature representatives of the UICC and the World Health Organization, and advocates and experts from Canada, India, Malaysia and the UK. Through discussion among our panel, the session is designed to equip attendees with:
- practical information about how to adapt global policy to national contexts
- insights into the lived experience of people with lung cancer and the importance of addressing stigma and mental health
- examples of integrated strategies to improve lung health, including shared risk factors
- opportunities for collaboration across geographies and sectors to improve advocacy efforts.
Attendees will leave with a stronger understanding of how the WHO resolution can serve as a tool to strengthen lung cancer prevention and care.
Don’t miss this opportunity to be part of the global momentum for change.
