Last year marked a turning point for lung cancer policy, and the Network was at the heart of this change. Historically under-prioritised on health agendas, lung cancer gained unprecedented recognition in 2025, and major milestones signalled a global shift towards coordinated action. Download our year in review to discover how we supported these changes.

Driving global policy momentum

Pivotal moments included the adoption of an integrated lung health resolution at the 78th World Health Assembly, the Asia-Pacific consensus statement on lung cancer, and the announcement of the IASLC–Lancet Commission on Lung Cancer.

These achievements demonstrate a growing commitment to tackling the world’s leading cause of cancer-related deaths, and underscore the Network’s role in driving change. Guided by our mission to make long-term survival from lung cancer the norm, and our objectives – to support policy development, foster collaboration and accelerate implementation – we have been instrumental in shaping these outcomes.

By convening stakeholders, amplifying evidence and advocating for integrated approaches, we are ensuring that lung health remains a priority on the global agenda.

Turning evidence into action

Through evidence-informed and consensus-driven resources, the Network has helped policymakers accelerate progress and overcome barriers to implementation.

Our resources – including reports, policy summaries and interactive tools – are co-created with our 114 members and grounded in real-world insights. Highlights include:

  • Harnessing innovation for diagnosis: Our flagship report and policy summary urged action to optimise lung cancer diagnosis, promoting equity and access.
  • Closing the implementation gap in screening: Leveraging global data, we transformed insights into practical guidance for programme design, informing discussions at the World Conference on Lung Cancer and beyond.
  • Championing patient navigation: A new report underscored navigation as an essential component of care, sparking dialogue on integrated pathways.

Impact beyond borders

Last year, our resources were downloaded more than 7,500 times and cited at international forums, ensuring our insights were accessible to inform decision-making. The interactive map of low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) screening was updated to its third edition, ensuring it remains a relevant and powerful tool for policymakers, drives alignment and accelerates early detection efforts.

These outputs have strengthened our ability to inform decision-making and equip partners with actionable insights, so our mission translates into tangible progress across regions.

A collective commitment

As we enter our fifth year, the Network remains a global driver of progress. Together with our diverse membership, we will continue to:

  • strengthen evidence-based policy insights
  • advance commitments to transform lung cancer care
  • tackle barriers to implementation
  • foster collaboration across regions.

Our mission is clear: to ensure lung cancer remains a priority on health agendas, and to deliver better outcomes. Together, we are turning policy into action.
