About this report
This report explores how optimising lung cancer diagnosis can improve equity, access and outcomes.
The diagnostic landscape for lung cancer is evolving, creating new opportunities and challenges. When people have access to diagnostic testing and innovations, they often receive a more accurate diagnosis earlier, which can help address the long-observed inequalities in survival and outcomes.
A comprehensive approach to diagnosis should be a critical component of lung cancer care, building and leveraging existing infrastructure. Our latest report – Harnessing innovation to optimise lung cancer diagnosis for better equity, access and outcomes – explores how the diagnostic process can be optimised at each stage of care (pre-diagnosis, diagnostic testing and staging, post-diagnosis), drawing on a review of the literature as well as insights from Network members and 12 expert interviewees.
The report and its recommendations support health system leaders and decision-makers to adopt a multifactorial and multidisciplinary approach to optimising lung cancer diagnosis, mitigating the disease’s impact on people, health systems and society.
