The Lung Cancer Policy Network is excited to participate in this year’s World Conference on Lung Cancer (WCLC) taking place 6–9 September in Barcelona.

We look forward to joining delegates and Network members and participating in many activities at the conference.

Join our open event: What do this year’s policy developments in lung cancer mean for you?

The Network is bringing together an expert panel on Sunday 7 September from 15:15–16:30 CEST to explore the latest developments in lung cancer policy and how experts and advocates can harness these to drive policy commitments in their own work.

The adoption of the lung health resolution at the World Health Assembly, and the development of the Bridging the Gap in the Diagnosis and Management of Lung Cancer global consensus statement, mark a pivotal moment in elevating lung cancer on the global policy agenda. By using these tools to guide national strategies, secure funding, and build cross-sector alliances, we can accelerate progress and deliver meaningful change for people affected by the disease.

This session will highlight ongoing policy initiatives – including the lung health resolution, new policy consensus and reports – with the aim of deepening our understanding of how these efforts can support policy and advocacy. We will showcase opportunities for involvement and illustrate the impact of these collective actions at the national, regional and global level.

Joining the panel will be:

  • Dr Mary Bussell, TriMar Strategies
  • Professor Andreas Charalambous, Cyprus University of Technology, University of Turku and IASLC Global Policy and Partnerships Committee
  • Dr Xiaoshuang Feng, International Agency for Research on Cancer
  • Professor Herbert Loong, The Chinese University of Hong Kong and Asia Pacific Coalition Against Lung Cancer
  • Dr Yannick Romero, Union for International Cancer Control
  • Dr Mahdi Sheikh, International Agency for Research on Cancer and IASLC Tobacco Control and Smoking Cessation Committee

While this session is free, we would appreciate you registering your interest to help us coordinate the event.
