The Lung Cancer Policy Network has launched a step-by-step guide to support organisations and individuals in planning and delivering workshops that advance the implementation of low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) screening programmes for lung cancer.
Built around the Network’s screening implementation toolkit, the guide helps workshop organisers apply a collaborative, systems-based approach to screening implementation. It provides practical tools to support knowledge exchange, assess health system readiness and translate strategy into action. The new resource includes planning templates, facilitation tips and interactive exercises structured around the toolkit’s six domains: governance; workforce and technical capacity; financial planning; eligibility and recruitment; screening delivery; and data monitoring and evaluation.
Workshops play an important role in facilitating lung cancer screening planning and implementation by promoting collaboration and shared learning among stakeholders. By bringing together healthcare professionals, policymakers, patient advocates and other decision-makers, these sessions create space for open discussion, consensus-building and practical problem-solving – ultimately helping to turn policy into real-world progress. This guide can be used to develop workshops for conferences, stakeholder events or dedicated planning sessions.

Implementing lung cancer screening is a complex, multidisciplinary challenge that require coordination across health systems. Drawing on the Network’s implementation toolkit, this new guide supports workshop organisers at every stage of the process – from defining objectives and building an agenda, to facilitating interactive discussions and ensuring effective follow-up.
