Overview of domain 2
Domain 2 helps you to assess the workforce and technical capacity in your health system and identify what additional resources are needed to implement your IPN management programme effectively.
Why workforce and technical capacity matters
IPN management programmes, like all health system programmes, need adequate resourcing to function effectively. To sustain a programme over the long term, it is vital to understand which infrastructure and workforce can be leveraged for implementation, and what additional assets are needed. It is equally important to understand the programme’s impact on the wider health system, so that implementation does not place unsustainable demands on existing services.
What this domain covers
Domain 2 guides you through:
Technical resource availability
- Understand what technical resources the selected IPN management programme type needs to function within the health system.
- Assess what existing infrastructure could be leveraged for the programme.
- Identify the level of technical infrastructure the programme requires, based on existing health system usage.
- Consider how the programme will interoperate with the wider health system, including identifying and mitigating issues with ageing infrastructure and siloed workflows.
Workforce capacity for delivery
- Assess the workforce required for the programme to function effectively, including approaches to leverage the existing workforce.
- Identify workforce roles and responsibilities within the programme.
Wider health system capacity
- Consider the downstream impact of the programme on wider health system capacity, including approaches to mitigate additional demand.
